Gravity oil separator

The API separator is a gravity separation device designed using Stokes' law principles that define the rise velocity of oil droplets based on their density, size and water properties. The design of the separator is based on the specific gravity difference between the oil and the wastewater because that difference is much smaller than the specific gravity difference between the suspended solids and water. Oil characteristics such as specific gravity, viscosity and temperature are applied to Stoke's Law to determine the design rise rate for capture of oil globules 150 microns or larger. Separator size is determined by influent flow rate and rise rate. Tank proportions and flow distribution are per API guidelines. Options offered for removal of separated floating oils are roll skimmers and rotating pipe skimmers both with and without internal oil storage.

These gravity separators accelerate the process of which oil and water do naturally – separate. It is done with no moving parts and is based on principles as consistent as gravity and buoyancy. The Pollution Control Systems OCS Series oil water separator with its coalescence principle of operation offers the user a number of advantages in TotlSep™ "Enhanced Gravity" Oil/Water Separators. The TotlSep™ (TS) Series fiberglass (FRP) oil/water separator is our top of the line coalescing type gravity separator designed for use in a wide range of applications. Our TS series includes a sludge hopper, integral oil reservoir, and vapor tight lid assembly. Vertical Gravity Separators (VGS) are an affordable and efficient way to separate oil from water to get Water Authority compliant or as part of a water recycling system. An oil water separator is a piece of equipment used to separate oil and water mixtures into their separate components. There are many different types of oil-water separator. Each has different oil separation capability and are used in different industries. Oil water separators are designed and selected after consideration of oil separation performance parameters and life cycle cost considerations. "Oil" can be taken to mean mineral, vegetable and animal oils, and the many different hydrocarbons. The Mercer International, Inc. Compliance Master™ oil/water/solids separator, is a high-performance, gravity-displacement separator system designed to provide the highest efficiency attainable in an "enhanced-gravity" coalescer plate separator. In teams of fluids to be separated, the oil/gas separators can be grouped into gas/liquid two-phase separator or oil/gas/water three-phase separator. Based on separation function, the oil/gas separators can also classified into primary phase separator, test separator, high-pressure separator, low-pressure separator, deliquilizer, degasser, etc.
